I have been working on a couple of oil paintings all month it seems. Oil takes a lot of consideration as well as drying time between layers. BUT, I think these two are both finished. They are both titled Annotations Series……..Annotations, Blue-Bay and Annotations, Red-Walk. They are both 36 x 36 x 2 inches on wood panels.
Absolutely gorgeous!…both of them.
These are beautiful paintings. Have you switched from working with acrylics to oils?
What medium are you using and do any additional preparation to the wood panels?
OMG… Dennis, did I ever reply to your comment/question? If not, I am just now seeing it. I have not switched to oils but I am using them a lot now. For these pieces I am using cold wax medium. This medium is one of the reasons I am painting with oil again after so many years. Before I would just get a lot of mud. This medium helps me keep it separate, at least longer, since I am using brayers and squeegees,at least in the first layers. I use two coats of acrylic gesso on the wood panels to protect the paint from discoloration over time. You can also use a light coating of beeswax that has been fused BEFORE you paint with the oils but no fusing after you start using a medium with a solvent.
